The Bigger Picture

Breakthroughs rarely happen incrementally. They come all at once, and they are the very definition of disruptive innovation. Welcome to the fourth edition of MillennialEYE, where we show you these breakthroughs and give you an insiders’ look at the latest trends. We all thought femtosecond lasers would change the way we practice, and now I believe that during the next few months we are about to see our surgical outcomes improve from another technology: intraoperative aberrometry. Things are about to get a whole lot smarter and sharper. In this issue, guest columnist Brandon Ayres updates us on point-of-care diagnostics and dry eye technology, and Kiper Nelson describes how he has incorporated EMR into his practice without losing that down-home charm. As always, our experts will bring you their signature columns. Here’s hoping your 2013 comes to an enriching conclusion as we all tread into new territory with the implementation of Obamacare.

From all of us at MillennialEYE, wishing you happy holidays and a great new year!
