ME Reinvented

As a publication geared toward aspiring and young ophthalmologists, MillennialEYE carries a long history that may be unfamiliar to some. The publication was launched by Bryn Mawr Communications in 2013, and the first live meeting was held soon after in 2014. Through the years, the ME brand has been cultivated and strengthened by many ophthalmologists and ophthalmologists-in-training. Despite varying backgrounds, careers, and experiences, these individuals were tied together—and to ME—by a common thread: a desire to support others in their ophthalmology journeys.

As such, for nearly a decade, ME served as an open forum—a place where authors shared their personal experiences, their successes and their failures, their clinical and surgical lessons and teachings, and more with the hope that doing so would help someone somewhere in a similar situation. In the process, ME also managed to form a true community built on genuine connections, collaborations, and friendships.

One of the most distinct qualities of ophthalmology is the pace with which the specialty changes. In keeping with this spirit of innovation, we at ME are starting a new chapter in 2023. Come January, editorial content for the future leaders in ophthalmology will be featured on YoungMD Connect, as a forum called Bookmarked. Here, you’ll find regularly posted articles on personal and professional development, clinical and surgical topics, innovation and technology in ophthalmology, and much more. You’ll also hopefully find a home in the vibrant community that is YoungMD Connect, if you haven’t done so yet.

As you’ll see in this final issue, MillennialEYE has followed so many amazing ophthalmologists on their paths from training to practicing to mentoring and beyond. We can’t wait to do the same with the next generation and to continue carrying on a long tradition of education, guidance, and support over on YMDC Bookmarked.
