On the Cutting Edge

Statistics show that millennials are early adopters of new technology, and ophthalmology is no stranger to this trend. As surgeons, our focus on innovation stems not only from an interest in the cutting edge but also from a commitment to continuously provide our patients with the best care possible. This allegiance coupled with rising patient expectations requires us to be adaptable and to remain on the lookout for new technologies and treatments that will enhance our practice.

This issue is dedicated to The Game Changers—technologies, treatments, and practices that are revolutionizing the field of ophthalmology. While impossible to cover every game-changing innovation on the market, those featured have undoubtedly impacted our contributors and their patients in a positive way. As you work to determine your own preferred methods for delivering superior results, we encourage you to do so with an open mind and a sense of curiosity—these qualities will guarantee that both physicians and industry continue to advance our specialty for the ultimate benefit of our patients.
