As a publication dedicated to the future leaders in ophthalmology, MillennialEYE aims to provide valuable content for ophthalmologists in training and opportunities for them to interact with the ME community. With this in mind, we, along with support from industry, hosted an abstract contest for five US or Canadian residents and fellows to win a grant to attend ME Live.
To apply, the residents and fellows were asked to submit a 250-word original research abstract on the topics of presbyopia and new therapeutic approaches to disease management. After careful review by the ME Live Program Chairs, five outstanding abstracts were selected from the pool of entries and grants were awarded to their authors: Sourabh Arora, MD; Peter Coombs, MD; Debora Garcia-Zalisnak, MD; Wonchon Lin, MD; and Guadalupe Villarreal Jr, MD.
These individuals demonstrated the ability to conduct high-quality research and craft well-written abstracts, and their attendance at ME Live was valued by all. The future of ophthalmology is certainly bright.
